The Section Editor, Robert C. Knies, Jr., RN MSN CEN successfully presented these articles when he was Clinical Nurse Specialist for Emergency Services at HealthSystem Minnesota, St. Louis Park, MN. We are fortunate to benefit from his generosity and enthusiasm for Emergency Nursing to share these articles from his excellent background as clinician, researcher, educator, author, administrator, and professional and community activist.
Bob Knies reminds us that the information presented here is by no means intended to be "set in stone". He recognizes that effectuating changes in practice is difficult and sometimes impeded or impossible, but that information is the key to critical thinking, and that it is critical thinking which sets us apart from other professionals.
